To paraphrase Jeff Bridges, national spokesperson for No Kid Hungry, “Poverty is complicated but feeding kids isn’t.” With more than 4,000 local kids qualifying for free or reduced lunches at school and 32% of DeKalb’s school children living within 1 mile of our serve site, the opportunity for providing nutritious meals that reduce summer hunger is great. Since first opening our doors as Summer Lunch and More in 2012 and then rebranding to Summer Lunch at the Park, more than 40,000 summer meals have been served to kids and their families.

Thanks to our partners: Northern IL Food Bank, Schnucks, Kishwaukee YMCA, DeKalb Park District, First United Methodist Church, and generous community donors who support this mission.
