Have you made your Christmas list yet? Hopefully you will leave room to add the name of a child from our Giving Tree. Names, ages, and wish lists for 55 local children will be available soon, on or before November 1. All children come to us through either Angel Tree, a mission of Prison Fellowship, or Family Service Agency.
Christmas trees with tags will be available for your selection near the sanctuary doors. If you are not yet ready to attend in-person worship, you may still request a tag or make a donation. If you would like to shop for a child, call Fran Clucas at 815-756-3330; leave your name and phone number and she will return your call and provide you with a code number and an age-appropriate suggestion list for one of the children. Each child’s gifts should be valued at $20-25, as many families have multiple children. Purchased gifts should be returned to the church, NOT WRAPPED, by December 5. Place all gifts in a bag with your name and phone and the child’s code number. If you are purchasing for multiple children, please place gifts for each child in a separate bag.
Sponsor a child by sending a check for any amount to First United Methodist Church with MISSION—ANGEL/GIVING TREE in the memo line or through the form below. Church volunteers will purchase gifts for the children with your donations. These donations should be received by November 15 to allow time for shopping. Gifts will be wrapped and delivered to the children’s home by volunteers, along with an invitation to First UMC and a card for a free Bible through Angel Tree, Interested in volunteering to shop or wrap? Contact Vicki Boone, 815-751-3397.
Watch the weekly email or the church’s Facebook page or website for updates on tag availability. We hope you will enjoy this opportunity to be a witness to God’s love as you share Christmas blessings with local children and their families! (Sponsored by the Missions Ministry Team)
