Worship Updates

SUNDAY WORSHIP: We Continue Online-only Worship Through January 1 Because of the high numbers of cases and hospitalizations, we will have NO in-person worship at the Church through the end of the year. All of our Advent services will be online. We encourage our congregation members to take precautions to protect our neighbors and to help reduce the spread of the virus.

Sunday School will follow any cancellations of in-person worship, so that means we will NOT have in-person classes for the immediate future. Watch for fun at-home activities coming soon for Advent!

Groups are strongly encouraged to meet remotely/online: While our Church Building will technically remain open and groups may still meet as long as they follow the limits on total number (less than 10) and abide by the 25% room capacity limits, we are discouraging in-person gatherings. We strongly recommend online meetings as the preferred alternative. Trustees, Finance, and Council on Ministry (COM) are all meeting online for now.

The Church Office will be open Monday through Friday mornings from 8:00 am until the mail has arrived and been processed (usually 10:30 am), but no later than noon for the next few weeks. Please call first if you need access to the building after 10:30 am to make sure Darlene is still in the office. Emails will be monitored in the afternoon and phone calls will be returned the next business day.

Online worship at 9 AM each Sunday! Online worship will be available on our DeKalb First UMC Facebook page ( on Sunday at 9:00 AM. as a video premiere.  Like other FB videos, you can watch later in the day or any time throughout the week if you miss Sunday morning. We are posting a copy of the service on our DeKalb First UMC YouTube channel by Monday each week as well: First UMC YouTube Channel.

TO LISTEN ON THE RADIO: If you are not able to attend or watch online, tune into WLBK radio (1360AM, 98.5FM or Sundays at 9 AM. This recording will also be available on our website ( under the “Worship” tab by Tuesday or Wednesday following each service.

Sunday, November 22 “More Than You Can Imagine” Bishop Sally Dyck We celebrate generosity and the joy of sharing our resources individually and corporately as we participate in a worship service prepared for us by Bishop Dyck and her Cabinet members. Join us at 9AM on Facebook Live (or on WLBK radio) for an inspiring message about the amazing impact our United Methodist connection makes around the Northern IL Conference and around the world.
