OFFICE CLOSED The church office will be closed on  Monday, February 18, for the President’s Day holiday.

SERMON SHAPERS in-depth Bible study with preliminary ideas for the upcoming sermon. Led by the pastor. Wednesday, February 20, 10 am at Oak Crest. We will look at Luke 6:27-38.

SPECIAL SESSION OF THE UNITED METHODIST GENERAL CONFERENCE is February 23-26 in St. Louis, Missouri. The focus of this special session is on “A Way Forward” concerning the church’s stance on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender inclusion. See the February Messenger newsletter (p6) for more info. R.E.A.L COMMUNITY MEAL, a free meal served family-style with community guests and volunteers dining together. Held the fourth Sunday each month (except   December) 5 pm. Next meal: February 24. Sign-up to help at

FUNDRAISER FISH FRIES For seven consecutive Friday’s around Lent, Faranda’s Banquet Center, 302 Grove St., DeKalb, will hold Friday Night Fish Fries (other food items available) with 10% of all dinner revenues being donated back to our local community. Simply let them know you would like the proceeds of your meal to go the First UMC. The first Fish Fry is Friday, March 1, from 5 to 8 pm.

PRETZEL SUNDAY is Sunday, March 3. Come enjoy the hot-out-of-the-oven pretzels made just for you by our Christian Education Students.
