Time Line
April 2006 The Council on Ministry created the Renovation/Build Taskforce with the charge to investigate and make a recommendation whether First UMC should purchase land to build or renovate the existing structure.
May 2006 After many meetings and presentations, a straw poll was taken of the congregation with a 94% positive response to proceed with buying land and building a new church.
2006 – 2017 Many properties were evaluated, culminating in the identification of a suitable site on north Annie Glidden Road.
2009 First UMC began working with Saavedra and Gehlhausen Architects to consider possible building plans
April 2017 Professing members of First UMC gathered and voted overwhelmingly to purchase the Annie Glidden property as the site of our new church.
Fall 2017 Three-year capital campaign “Help Plant the Future” was started, raising over three million dollars.
2019 Ten building teams were established, each team composed of anyone who wanted to serve on that specific sub-committee.
October 2020 First UMC purchased 15 acres of land on Annie Glidden Road from the Storey family.
June 6, 2021 First UMC Professing Members will vote by ballot: Yes or No to accept floor plan presented by the Coordinating Team
