Mission Possible is a ministry of First United Methodist Church. Open to youth ages 13 through 18, Mission Possible participants plan and attend one mission trip each summer. The preparation for each mission trip includes team building activities and monthly fundraisers. Mission Possible’s goal is to teach youth to serve different types of families in diverse locations throughout the United States. Through these trips, the program aims to encourage all youth in the community to serve others and grow in their personal journey with Christ.
The Mission Possible 2020 team is preparing for our 2020 summer mission trip with Tree of Life Ministry to Mission, South Dakota. While there, we will be working all week assisting families who are in need of home repair and spiritual growth
This year’s trip has youth from the community and surrounding areas joining our Mission Possible ministry to create our diverse and wonderful team. We will travel to Mission, South Dakota August 1 through 8, 2020.
January – Letter Fundraiser: Participants will send letters to family and friends asking for their prayers and support for the Mission Possible 2020 youth mission trip.
February – Pizza Sales: Order your pizzas in time for the big game. Mission Possible participants will be taking orders for pizzas ($9) during fellowship time on the Sundays preceding game day. Pizzas will be ready for you to pick up at church the morning of the big game (February 2).
March – Spaghetti Dinner and Pie Auction: The church’s Mission Ministry team will host a Spaghetti Dinner and Pie Auction on Saturday, March 7, at 5 pm with proceeds benefiting the Mission Possible 2020 summer trip. Trip participants will prepare pies to be auctioned at the dinner.
April – Chili Cook-off: Mission Possible 2020 will join with Christian Education for this FUNdraiser on Sunday, April 19, from 4 to 8 pm. A variety of chili’s will be prepared with attendees voting for the one they think is the best. Proceeds will be divided between Mission Possible 2020 and Vacation Bible School.
May 21, 5 to 7 pm – Pork Chop/Chicken Drive-Thru: Three meal choices available: A) 2 pork chops, B) 1/2 chicken, C) a combo meal of 1 pork chop and 1/4 chicken. Meals include applesauce, baked beans, coleslaw, roll and butter. Cost is $15. A hot dog meal is also available for $6. Tickets available from a Mission Possible team member or in the church office. ( Ticket sales start date to be announce.)
